A nanny’s job is much more than the sum of her daily tasks. A nanny must be reliable, trustworthy, patient, and loving. She needs to be a person the parents feel completely comfortable leaving their precious children with. She should also be active, creative, enthusiastic, and interact well with children of all ages. A nanny is responsible for your child’s safety, development, and well-being when you are not at home and will care for them as required.
A nanny’s normal day-to-day duties include the complete care of the children and:
Changing diapers and potty training
The children’s laundry
Keeping the children’s rooms clean and tidy, and organizing when necessary
Planning and preparing the children’s meals and possibly grocery shopping if needed
The stimulation of the child in play to ensure good development
The promotion of the children’s health
Reading to the children
Administering medication with the parents’ consent
Maintaining daily logs for the parents, if needed
Arranging playdates and outings
Indoor and outdoor play
School drop off/pick up
Driving to activities or doctor appointments
Light housekeeping
Light housekeeping chores may consist of grocery shopping, family errands, emptying the trash, the children’s laundry, and keeping the kitchen and kids’ areas clean and organized.
Nannies are responsible for everything relating to the children, such as dressing, bathing, and preparing nutritious meals for the children, organizing their playdates and outings, and supervising and assisting with homework. The Nanny will be expected to create a safe environment in which to develop your children to their full potential.

Current rates for professional nannies are between $16-$30 per hour. Nannies are paid 52 weeks per year. If your nanny is available to work but you do not require their services, they should still be paid their normal wages.
You must be willing to pay your nanny legally.
You must offer typical nanny standard benefits— guaranteed hours, paid vacation, paid holidays, sick days, and mileage reimbursement. (We will help you draft a contract that includes all of this.)
-
We require our nannies to be legally employed.
-
We expect our full-time families to offer:
2-4 Weeks Paid Vacation
8-10 Paid Holidays
3-5 Paid Sick DaysMileage Reimbursement (While on the job)
-
Nannies are household employees and must be paid per hour. Overtime laws occur for every hour worked over 9 hours per day or 40 hours per week. Overtime rates are time and a half of your nanny’s hourly rate.
-
Guaranteed hours are specific hours that you guarantee that your nanny will be paid for, so she can rely on a constant paycheck. For example, if you guarantee that your nanny can work 40 hours per week with your family, but sometimes you don’t need her for all those hours, you still must pay her for those hours worked, regardless of whether she works them or not. The guaranteed hours benefit kicks in when the nanny is willing and able to work, yet the family, for any reason, decides that their services are not needed.
-
Absolutely! This falls under guaranteed pay. Nannies are paid their same weekly hours, 52 weeks per year, despite their employer’s schedule. If you were to give your nanny an extra day off, take an extra week's vacation, or even let her go home a few hours early, the nanny will still be required to be paid their minimum guaranteed hours.
-
A nanny’s normal day-to-day duties include light housekeeping. Light housekeeping chores consist of child-related duties only. This may include grocery shopping, emptying the trash, the children’s laundry, and keeping the kids’ areas clean and organized. If you need other housekeeping duties, you may want to consider hiring a separate house cleaner.

In order to do our due diligence, Nanny Placement can take 4-8 weeks. We promise, it’s well worth the wait. Unfortunately, there is a nanny shortage across the USA right now. We have been in the nanny industry for over 19 years and have many connections across the world; however, we cannot guarantee how many candidates will apply for your position and how qualified they may be. We have a thorough, in-depth screening process, and it is a very low percentage who actually make it through, as we only want to represent the best! We will work hard to provide 2-3 solid candidates that you will be able to interview. To make this process go faster, please review profiles and set up interviews within 24 hours. Offer trial days within 48 hours or less. Our nannies are actively looking for work, and we would hate for you to lose out on one of our amazing candidates if they were to get offered a job elsewhere.
-
We offer a free replacement within the first 90 days. You will also receive a one-year guarantee. If your nanny ends up not working out in the first year of employment, we will replace them at a pro-rata rate. You are not required to pay a new engagement fee of $250.00 unless there have been changes in the original job description.
